IF integrated fork

The handling of a Wilier bike is one of its most treasured attributes. We continually search for ways to further improve the solid feel at the front end, which has led to some of the most significant of the Cento1 SR’s enhancements. We found that a new way of positioning the down tube and top tube with respect to the head tube creates a virtual increase of the head tube’s height, which makes it 14% stiffer in terms of torsional rigidity. The top tube approaches the head tube at a downward angle while the down tube is angled upwards as it joins the head tube and the Integrated Fork. This junction is traditionally like the point of a triangle, but this new angle and positioning makes it more like a square, which is stiffer. The back of the fork’s brake hole is tucked into the down tube, keeping it clean and protected from the elements. The Integrated Fork design also creates an aerodynamic profile that reduces drag. Drawing from research implemented in development of our Twin Blade, the Cento1 SR’s fork legs are designed for optimal stability and aerodynamics. Like the proven Kamm truncated tail concept implemented in our time trial models, both the Cento1 SR’s integrated seatmast and fork legs benefit from this structural innovation, thereby attaining a perfect balance of lightweight, aerodynamics and steerability.

Wilier road bikes are famous for their front ends. Our integrated head tube and fork designs equate to unrivaled steerability for confident cornering and descending. The oversized, squared profile that characterizes our fork crowns and that flows into the base of our head tubes maximizes strength and stability at a key fulcrum point.

BB 386

The BB386EVO system takes the oversized bottom bracket design concept, which was successfully introduced by Wilier Triestina in the Cento1 model and subsequent variations, to its next evolution. To obtain an unprecedented stiffness at a crucial point of the frame, we have devised an innovative system that can perfectly incorporate an ultra-stiff crank into an ultra-stiff frame. The traditional BB30 system proved inadequate because it requires a frame with a 68 mm box, which is too narrow to deliver the degree of stiffness that we wanted. With this in mind, we developed the new standard BB386EVO in collaboration with FSA, which pairs a carbon crank with a longer 30 mm spindle and a wider 86.5 mm bottom bracket box.

The Razor Edge Design overlaps top and down tube at at the head tube to form a single, integrated and reinforced unit. Combined with the unique lines of the specially structured fork, we’ve optimized lateral stiffness and front end stability for quick accelerations as well as smooth, precise handling speed.

Easy adjust

Wilier Triestina still insisted on a design that allowed for fine-tuning of rear wheel position and therefore of the cogset’s orientation in relation to the rear derailleur. This enables optimal wheel alignment, aerodynamic positioning and smooth shifting. Thanks to our innovative solution providing 6mm of adjustability, wheel base and distance from tire to the rear of our truncated seat tube airfoil are customizable. This enables both aerodynamic and bike handling optimizations, as well as making wheel changes fast and simple.

DIALEAD

A new carbon fiber call DIALEAD ™ produced by Mitsubishi Japan. These fibers are formed from a material called PITCH, which is obtained from hydrocarbon fossils. This type of fiber has a high degree of purity and an ultra high modulus. DIALEAD ™ therefore has a higher compression of the fibers and better orientation, which enables the creation of ultra-light and ultra-resistant products, such as Zero.6.
