With the 2016 season coming to an end, the Wilier Triestina Pro-cycling team is happy to announce the renewal of the partnership into the 2017 season.

The team lead by Angelo Citracca and Luca Scinto has had great success on Wilier bikes this season, and looks to build on that next season. The Giro d'Italia marked a return to the highest level of racing for Wilier Triestina, who have amassed a great heritage in the marquee Italian event. The team's commitment, enthusiasm and tenacity during long breakaways and solo moves off the front were enjoyed by fans across the world, and embodies the fighting spirit that Wilier wants to be known for. This season has now laid the foundations for a long-lasting relationship between the Rossano Veneto based bicycle manufacturer and the Tuscany based team.

Now that Wilier Triestina has committed to the Pro-Continental team through 2017, this gives team manager Citracca room to grow the level of organization and performance, with the stated goal of trying to be the best Italian team in the world.

Andrea Gastaldello, Wilier Triestina CEO, was happy to sign on for another year of supporting the team: "Our mission is to continue to enhance the reputations of Italian cycling across the world, both in terms of home-grown athletes, and also in bicycle manufacturing. We're proud to be associated with an all Italian team that has such lofty goals. Alongside the athletic performances, the team's ability to capture the imagination of the fans is important, and this team has that ability."

The team is in the process of securing secondary sponsorship, but with Wilier Triestina guaranteed as the first title sponsor, it gives the management the ability to begin retaining riders and searching for new talent. The enigmatic and flamboyant team captain Filippo Pozzato is confirmed to return, alongside Jakub "Kuba" Mareczko who will take the role of road captain in the bigger races. Further rider signings will be announced in the coming weeks.

Wilier Triestina recorded €50,000,000 in sales and 37,000 bikes sold in 2015. Over the past 110 years, Wilier has a storied and colourful heritage that will continue into the future. Under the direction of the Gastaldello family, the brand continues to be recognized as one the foremost Italian manufacturers in cycling.
